Tom specialises in commercial contract disputes and landlord/tenant disputes and is based in our Market Harborough office.

 

He has considerable experience of both fast and multi-track claims and advises clients on their prospects of success in a cost-effective manner. Tom is an experienced county court advocate and worked as a duty solicitor for over two years providing advice to tenants in relation to eviction proceedings. As a duty solicitor Tom made submissions in Court on behalf of clients, cross examined witnesses and presented complex legal arguments. Tom is now mainly instructed by landlords in relation to disputes with their tenants and uses his extensive knowledge of section 8 and section 21 procedures to secure possession of his clients’ properties.

 

Tom also advises on Employment Law including wrongful dismissal, unfair dismissal and redundancy claims and frequently advises clients on settlement agreements (previously known as compromise agreements).

Joanna McKenzie, Senior Consultant Solicitor (Commercial and Intellectual Property Litigation)

 

Joanna is a consultant in the firm’s Dispute Resolution team.  Joanna is a Commercial and Intellectual Property litigator who deals with a variety of disputes ranging from professional negligence claims, debt recovery, breach of contract claims as well as business and company matters such as shareholder disputes and Partnership disputes.  She has a keen interest in Intellectual Property and advises on copyright and trademark issues as well as passing off and breach of confidentiality.  Joanna is an advocate of alternative dispute resolution, especially Mediation.  However if necessary she is experienced in taking matters to the County Court, High Court (both Queens Bench and Chancery Divisions), and if necessary the Court of Appeal.
