It is essential that when taking out any type of insurance policy that you give the correct information to enable the insurer to provide an accurate quotation for the cover you require. If you fail to provide accurate information the insurer can decline cover and, in some cases, terminate your policy.
It is also important during the term of any insurance policy, to immediately notify your insurer if you have a change in circumstances which needs to be notified in accordance with your policy conditions. Claims can be refused if something has changed which will affect the policy of insurance, and in circumstances where you are obliged to notify the insurer, but you have not done so. To ensure you are properly covered it is always best to check with your insurer if notification or amendments are required to your policy.
If you find yourself in a situation where you believe you may need to make a claim against your policy, do not delay, contact your insurers immediately, to discuss if you are covered and what information they require from you to start a claim. It is important that you keep detailed records of any correspondence with parties involved and that you keep receipts and payment records, which you will have to produce to allow payments to be made to you under your policy.
If you are considering taking out a policy to cover items of jewellery, always keep the purchase receipt and take photographs of the jewellery with a date endorsed on them. Insurers may refuse claims for lost or stolen jewellery if this information is not available.

Our insurance solicitors will aim to reach a final settlement as soon as possible that will be in your best interests. We will robustly negotiate on your behalf, and endeavour to obtain the best settlement for you, and we will keep you updated and informed as your case progresses.
